Eat Your Veggies to Prevent Breast Cancer



Nearly 23% of Americans report consuming vegetables and fruits less than one time daily, with median vegetable intake of just 1.6 times per day overall. In contrast, experts recommend consuming 5 to 9 servings of vegetables and fruits daily for optimal health.


Chances are that you know you should have be eating as many vegetables as possible but now we have some more evidence as to why.

Luteolin in celery may lower Breast Cancer Risk.

Luteolin is an anti-inflammatory plant compound found in certain vegetables, including celery, peppers, and carrots. It’s previously been linked with lower age related memory loss in mice.

Research now show that it may reduce or slow the development of breast cancer, particularly that casued by hormone replacement therapy.

Lycopene: Another cancer fighting compound in Veggies.

Lycopene- a carotenoid antioxidant that gives fruits and vegetables like tomatoes and watermelon in a pink red color- has long been identified as a cancer fighter, although most often its mentioned in relation to prostate cancer.

Sulforaphane: The Cancer-Fighting Broccoli Superstar

No discussion of the cancer-fighting powers of vegetables would be complete without a mention of sulforaphane, an organic sulfur compound in criciferous vegetables, including not only broccoli but also brussel sprouts , cabbage, cauliflower, horseradish, and arugula.
